The Silhouettes

Sometimes the sun is not quite right (meaning I am standing in the wrong place but take the picture anyway) or hidden behind gray skies leaving my shots looking like silhouettes--just one reason I love dreary days so much.

With the dreary weather we've had lately, silhouettes are all I can as well! Nice shots.

These were shot over the course of this last year with the latest ones a few weeks ago. Sometimes we just have to make do with what we have- yes? LOL

Great shots. The good thing about this time of year is that you can see them in the branches so much better. Especially the cardinals.

Those are some super shots!! Love the second one...I was trying to figure out what bird it was but couldnt! And is that one with the legs down an Osprey? Love that one too!

Wow! I think both you and the sun are in the right place. Those photos, especially the second, are magnificent!

Barb- so true!

Dixxe-Thanks! I can't remember what each one was but yes, I think the one with the legs down was an osprey. Then, there are some geese, a blue heron or two, some grackles, and a turkey vulture. Oh, and a little blue heron.

JJ- thank you so much! I do like the effect of they give.

How fun!!! Your pictures are amazing and the birds are awesome! You could even reverse that and say, "Your pictures are awesome and the birds are amazing."

Either way looks like you had a great day taking pictures!!

Saimi- Thank you! The first time one turned out like that I was disappointed...then, after looking at it some more, I really liked it!

The positions you have captured are great.Without the color, one looks at the shape of the bird more.

Absolutely beautiful.

My Hubby calls them the "back lit birds" and they are often quite effective.

I LOVE these and would take them on purpose..there is something about the stark quality that adds such a mood to the photo...Love them... Michelle
