But you got to have friends...
Time once again for everybody's favorite---Word Bird Wednesday! You don't have to be an experienced bird watcher or photographer (Thank the LORD) to join in the fun. All you really need is a love of birds--observing them, photographing them, feeding them, learning about them, sharing them, enjoying them--or just ooohing and ahhhing over the finds of others. Whatever you it is you enjoy about birds, join up with Springman's Word Bird Wednesday at The Pine River Review. You won't be sorry--unless you miss it.
Friends in the yard this week:
Lots of Mourning Doves were in the yard this week...just hangin' out with friends and chillin'...
The Pine Warbler and the Downy Woodpecker hung out together at the suet feeder...
Wonder if these two pine warblers have something more than a friendship brewing? (male on the left, female on the right)
Curious pair- European Starling and a Blue Jay. (the Starling is new to the yard).
Sometimes the birdfeeders fascinate me even more than the birds themeselves: so many different constructions. I am intrigued with the block of wood the jay is perched on. And wonder what the suet mix in the cages consists of.
We have so many seeds and berries that are still uneaten, so I haven't bothered much. Now I want to try something that defeats the hundreds of pigeons about and the squirrels, so that I can observe the songbirds a little better.
Joco- the blue jay is on a hexagonal feeder made of cedar. It has a plastic bottom with little holes all over it for rain to fall through. The suet is store bought but Weezer sent me a recipe for homemade suet. If you want it just email me at: momaloft4@gmail.com Someone sent me a site for feeders that their squirrels cannot get to..I'll try to find that for you too!
What a lot of wonderful birds your feeders attract. Here in Australia it is not recommended to have bird feeders as there is enough food available in nature for them and it makes the wild birds lazy as well as increasing imported varieties to pest proportions.
I wish I were back where there are real winters and little birds congregate on my windowsill again.
There seems to be a lot of romance in your garden this week if the warblers are any indication. Valentine's day is approaching after all. Nice feeders by the way! ;-)WBW
Oh girl, I'm totally in awe of your breathtakingly beautiful pictures here. With all the ice and snow here in these Ozark hills and hollers I fed 50lbs. of black oil sunflower seed this week. Yep, Hubs was like, "your out already." At least the birds are happy!
Hey girlfriend. I just decided to see what you're pictures are all about. WOW are they beautiful. You are some awesome photographer. I'm glad I'm following this blog. Take care Pam and have a blessed evening.
I love your bird pictures. We also love watching the birds feed. We have a woodpecker that frequents the bird feeders. He's so funny! There is nothing prettier than all of those red cardinals.

I love the variety of woodpeckers you have. Similar.. but then so different to ours in the UK
Great series and I can hardly wait until the Red-bellied woodpeckers fly a bit further north to our woods. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Gary-the one that visits us is not always happy to share the suet!
Great photos and an interesting variety of birds in the yard and at the feeder.
