Yellow-Rumped Warbler

Time once again for everybody's favorite---Word Bird Wednesday!  You don't have to be an experienced bird watcher or photographer (Thank the LORD) to join in the fun.  All you really need is a love of birds--observing them, photographing them, feeding them, learning about them, sharing them, enjoying them--or just ooohing and ahhhing over the finds of others.  Whatever it is you enjoy about birds, join up with Springman's Word Bird Wednesday at The Pine River Review.  You won't be sorry--unless you miss it.

Hope y'all are enjoying the springlike weather.  If not, hopefully spring will get to your area soon.  Our weather has been perfect for The Great Backyard Bird Count (February 18-21).  It was great- we just put up the study window, sat back-camera ready, and waited.  This week, for WBW, I am featuring the Yellow-Rumped Warbler who frequents the feeders and was included in the bird count.  I love to watch the way they flit around the suet.  As far as numbers, I've seen 2 at the same time but, mostly, it's only one at a time.  They don't seem to come in droves like the Bullies (Starlings)

A lovely bird to see. Great series of flight images.

Great shots of the yellow rump. They seem to be the most prevalent visitors to my suet feeder. Your shots are much sharper than the ones I get through my window.

Great series on the Yellow Rump. I did not know they liked suet.

Hey Pam, I see we share the same type of feeder BUT I don't get such an interesting species as the Yellow Rumped visiting me. Lovely action shots. FAB.

walker- Thank you! They have become one of my favorites.

Martha- We are lucky with the weather lately and have been able to raise the window! It's been in the high 70s.

eileen- These sure seem to! It's a homemade suet. I got the recipe from a fellow bird watcher/blogger.

Frank- Thank you! They didn't start doing this until I put some homemade suet out there...guess they like it! LOL

They must like your homemade suet. It is easy to make?

The bird really show off its yellow rump, or butter butt as we say here in New England. I didn't know they visit feeders, perhaps they have all gone south by the time I put out my feeders. Nice post!

What fun to capture them in mid-flight.

Hilke- butter butt- love it!

duck- That's almost all I can do, they flit like that most of the time.

mick- I do feel rather spoiled- and lazy as nothing gets done other than sitting at the open window watching birds. LOL

Ruth- I know! I crumble off some of the suet for them but he just keeps coming back and flitting around.

Nicole- Thank you!

Great captures of him at your suet feeder. A real beauty.

I don't think I've ever seen a bird hover around the suet pecking at it like that. We've got perchers here. This is great perspective on a new bird for me. Your captures are excellent!

holding- Thank you!

Springman- This little guy didn't really start this until I added the homemade suet. Now, he's there every day! Love your Florida shots, BTW!

HE is doing a super job of hovering to get that suet...--must be very tasty to work so hard to get at it. Excellent shots of his efforts too.

Sondra- They all seem to really love it. It's a homemade suet and the birds are 'flocking' to it! LOL

Whoa! Very cool in captures. These birds are said to be in my area yet I have not seen one at my suet feeders with my homemade cakes. Hmmm???
