Word Bird Wednesday

Time once again for Word Bird Wednesday!  You don't have to be an experienced bird watcher or photographer (Thank the LORD) to join in the fun.  All you really need is a love of birds--observing them, photographing them, feeding them, learning about them, sharing them, enjoying them--or just ooohing and ahhhing over the finds of others.  Whatever it is you enjoy about birds, join up with Springman's Word Bird Wednesday at The Pine River Review.  You won't be sorry--unless you miss it.

This last week or so it seems as though our lovely feathered friends were avoiding me every time I had my camera--just to mess with me.  BUT, coming back from a fundraiser on Sunday (DD3's group SSMA [Student Sports Medicine Association] hosted a kickball fundraiser for the prevention of childhood obesity), Hubs stopped to purchase some boiled peanuts (OMG- YUMMY!) and I spotted two OSPREY hanging out on the lights at one of the middle school football fields!

Well spotted and excellently captured. I'm hoping I may get to see one when we go northwards for a short holiday in June.

Great captures!! Maybe they're just waiting for the game! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

I love Osprey! Great photo series. Maybe it is a breeding pair looking for a place to build a nest.

Get a load of that wingspan will ya? I did not know osprey followed football so closely but these are the wonderful things one learns on WBW!
So glad your birdy bio-rhythms have come full circle and your now getting the sightings you deserve. ;-)WBW

Great sighting and photos of the Osprey. They seem to build their nest anywhere.

Andrew- Thanks! They are one of my favorite birds!

Springman- Yep...they are Carolina Panther fans so it's difficult for them to tell the difference between the Panthers and a middle school football team after last year's performance on the field. LOL I hope my streak is over for real!

bailey- Thank you! I was beginning to think I'd never connect with camera and bird again. LOL

Jean-I got lucky!

Bill- I was hoping they were just hanging out to get their picture taken and then they would move on. LOL

Ruth- Thank you! I got so excited when he started stretching that I almost forgot to take the picture!

phyllis- I'm glad I had it too!

eileen- Thank you! I was hoping they were just hanging out for a while, but I don't know.

Lovely birds.

Great captures of the Osprey Pam. It looks like there is a nest of some sort right next to the pole. Not large enough for the Osprey but we have a pair nesting on a bank of soccer field lights similar to this at a field in the park. I love that second spread wing shot!
