Word Bird Wednesday
Time once again for everybody's favorite---Word Bird Wednesday! You don't have to be an experienced bird watcher or photographer (Thank the LORD) to join in the fun. All you really need is a love of birds--observing them, photographing them, feeding them, learning about them, sharing them, enjoying them--or just ooohing and ahhhing over the finds of others. The Red-Bellied Woodpecker is a daily visitor to our feeders and was included in my count for the Great Backyard Bird Count. I love this bird's colors and the fact that he doesn't take any crap off the Starlings. The third picture down is one of him fussing at a Starling- the Starling flew away. You can see the interaction in my post about the Starlings.
Your pictures are so clear of him & really bring out his personality,I like the one of him giving someone the dickens,but they are all so beautiful!phyllis
Excellent shots! The Red Belly is tough enough to deal with a Sternus? I'll bet! The back yard bird count sounds like a fun event to participate in. ;-)WBW

Incredible bird- we don't have them here, but it looks like a combination of a flicker and a down woodpecker.
