I've recently made the birdbath more accessible to my feathered friends. The original was too deep so I used it as a planter and made a shallow bath for the birds. They love it! Even though they won't stay in long enough for me to remember to go get my camera. Sheesh.
I did get a few shots of some cardinals...
And a grackle stopped by for a drink...
And I caught two mourning doves up in the neighbor's tree...
I've put some new feeders out now. So I'll be sitting outside. Waiting for visitors to fly in and check them out. And, if I'm really lucky, catch someone in the new birdbath!
There are many pictures to be taken when one lives in touristy area. Our birds are particularly photogenic!

Mr. Mallard Takes a Bath
It's been rainy here this weekend- a little bit anyway. Any amount is much needed! Of course, a little rain is no excuse not to take a walk. So we did.
On Saturday, we caught Mr. Mallard having his bath--
I don't think he minded us being there though...not much anyway...
One of the things I always loved about the ponds--besides the birds---was the way the trees reflected in them. They were particularly lovely in autumn. Now, we see the reflection of monsters...

Wait! Tucker sees something? Another monster?!
Hardly!

Saturday at the Pond
On Saturdays, we just walk--no running. So, I take the camera. And Tucker helps me look for birds...
Today, the Osprey was looking a little too intently at my little dog...
But he decided to fly away...Whew!
Some dogs like to chase balls at the pond...
They are friends of Tucker's, but he doesn't dig all that ball chasin' and swimming...
No problem, these guys LOVE it!
Ah, it's a dog's life at the pond on Saturdays.

Getting the Day Started
If we get to the ponds early enough we get to observe some morning rituals...
a little washing up before the first meal of the day...
before those blasted builders get there and start killing nature and making all that noise pollution, a mockingbird might serenade us....
Life at the pond is quiet in the morning before those builders....
before the unleashed dogs start chasing everyone away...
it's just breakfast time in the pond...
and from above...

A Fence
Somewhere near our neighborhood, there might be a fence that we aren't supposed to climb. But many do. Because a path beckons...
The path tells us that there is much to see if we dare...
The sun calls to us from its place in the morning sky as it shines brightly through the oaks....
Come on! Come see what beauty surrounds you....
Even the birds are inviting us to climb over and visit. Even if only for a moment...
While they consider breakfast...
I cannot believe I have neglected this poor little bog for so long. I've been so busy on my main blog and completing chores that I just couldn't fit it in. I really will try to do better. Besides, it helps me get my wonderful camera out and use it!
